It turns out we aren't closing until Monday (see, I knew I shouldn't even TALK about it since it's changed 4 times now) but this means we have all weekend to finish moving stuff, and to make the house nice and clean! The thought of cleaning a house has never made me excited. Hopefully stuff like this won't lose its luster anytime soon, because we have many rooms to clean. And right now it is just so appealing.
Jesse suggested we buy some cleaning supplies, and so we giddily decided on a garbage can, stocked up on cleaners (and wood polish for our counters!) grabbed some paint swatches, and even looked at....home phones. I know. We have a HOME phone number! The traditionalist in me loves it. The 25 year old without cellphone service at the house does not. Nor does self-employed Jesse. But we'll work it out.
I love how a garbage can make our night.
We arrived at the house with our cleaning supplies, our garbage can and our paint swatches to find our side lawn behind the garage a muddy track of bulldozers and dirt. We inferred that this must be our new leachfield (do you know what that is? We didn't either before we learned the house needed a new septic system. I don't want to waste space on this new-house blog explaining septics. You can google it if you can't stand not knowing.) The back lawn near our porch is torn up and what we infer to be exposed septic tanks. Our new septic system!! It was a glorious sight. I don't think I will ever say that again. But it was.
That's all I will hopefully have to say about septic systems, because hopefully this new one will last a long time and we can focus on more fun things. Like this (it has wheels!):
Ha.
